unwilling, wednesday

Wednesday, March 4

Opening Prayer: Lord God, help us this day, and this season, to walk in the good way and find rest for our souls.  Amen.

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 6:16

Journal: What words or images in this passage speak to something in your life or heart today?  How does it speak to your deepest longings?  Are you walking in the good way these days?  If not, why?  Why would we not be willing to walk in the good way if it promises rest for our souls?

Reflection:

              The Way It Is

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.

Prayers

Closing Prayer: Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths.  Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)
