Opening Prayer: I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his words I put my hope.  My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.  O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. Journal: Where and how in your life are you waiting for the Lord?  How is this going?  What do you think God is up to?

Reflection: Waiting for the Lord does not mean being held in a state of perpetual limbo, but that God is at work in ways we cannot yet see.  The truth is that God is always at work.  Therefore, the key to waiting is not merely to endure it, but to embrace it.  In fact, it is only when we embrace it that are we truly waiting for the Lord and not merely for our circumstances to change.

Closing Prayer: I pray to God—my life a prayer—and wait for what he’ll say and do. My life’s on the line before God, my Lord, waiting and watching till morning, waiting and watching till morning.
