Scripture: Matthew 18:21-35
Journal: Where so you find yourself in this story? Who can you relate to most? Why?
What does God seem to be saying to you today?
Reflection:
If only we could see the world, and
particularly those in that world, through the lenses of the enormity of our own
debt—which has been forgiven—then we would see things much differently. But so often I want to put myself in the
place of the one that only owes ten dollars, when the reality is that I am
actually the one that owes ten million dollars.
“He who has been forgiven little, loves little,” Jesus once said. And that is certainly the case here. All of us has been forgiven much—in fact,
much more than we could ever imagine.
And therefore, if we realize we have been forgiven much, it gives us the
ability to love much. If we can come to
realize exactly how much we have been forgiven, then a beautiful humility, and
then compassion, in born deep within us.
Then we are able to truly love others, rather than judge and condemn
others.
Prayer
Closing
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me, this day, to realize
exactly how much I have been forgiven, so I can, in turn love those in my life
and world deeply and well, rather than judging and condemning them. Amen.
