an invitation to holy week

Opening Prayer:
O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.
~St. Ignatius

Scripture: Luke 19:28-44

Journal: Where have you seen new life spring forth from death?  What still needs to die in you that room might be made for new life?  What is Jesus’ invitation to you during holy week?

Reflection:
a long season of lent is finally coming to an end
but the beginning of the end involves a ride
a ride into the depths of death and dying
a painful but necessary journey
for a dying must take place
in order to make room for new life
in the kingdom of God
death always leads to new life
and so Jesus turns to each of us and asks
will you ride with me?

Prayer

Closing Prayer: Lord Jesus, give me the grace and the strength and the courage to join you once again on your journey to the cross, whatever that may mean.  Amen.
