your kingdom come

Opening Prayer: O God, our Heavenly Father, may our lives today be all about your name, your will, your kingdom, and your glory.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

Scripture: Luke 11:1-4

Journal: How is prayer for you these days?  How would you describe your prayer life?  What do you long for it to be?  How can this prayer of Jesus light a fire under your life of prayer?

Reflection: O God, you are our Heavenly Father; the Father from whom all fatherhood derives its name.  You are the Father we dream about in our wildest dreams; a good and loving father, full of mercy and compassion.  You are our Abba, our Papa.  May we know the depths of your love and affection this day.  Your name, O God, is above all names.  You are Yahweh, the ever-present One.  You are Elohim, the great Three-in-one.  May your name be lifted high in our lives and our hearts this day.  O God, you are also the King of glory.  May your kingdom, O King, come upon us this day and every day.  May it be in our midst, both our present reality and our future hope.  You are also the great Provider.  Provide for us, your children, from your abundance this day.  Give us your manna.  Feed our hungry souls with the Bread of Life.  And forgive us, O gracious and merciful God, for all of the ways we have fallen short of being the people and the lovers that you long for us to be. And help us to offer one another the same grace and forgiveness that you offer us.  Lead and guide us, O Heavenly Father, deeper into your heart of love this day; and deliver us from anything that might be hurtful, either to ourselves or to others.  We ask this all in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Prayer

Closing Prayer: Our Father, may your kingdom come, today and every day.  And may we be at least a small part of that coming.  Help us to be watchful for how and where your kingdom will be in our midst today.  Amen.
